Some of you may have been aware of the recent events surrounding a live stream on social media that has subsequently been linked with Gosport and Fareham Rugby Club.
As soon as the club became aware of the incident our Club Safeguarding Officer took the necessary steps to ensure that this was managed correctly. Representatives from both Hampshire RFU and the RFU safeguarding team at Twickenham were informed and have been working with G&F RFC to ensure that the appropriate steps were taken to manage the situation in line with both the clubs and the RFU’s policies and procedures.
It can now be confirmed that the person involved was not an employee of the club at any point, but it has come to our attention that he has volunteered on occasions.
With the information provided, the club has taken the steps to barr the individual concerned from the club and an employee has resigned from their position.
G&F RFC would also like to reassure its members that, as a result of this situation, additional measures will be put in-place to help ensure a situation of this type does not happen again.
The safety and welfare of our players, coaches and volunteers is, and always will be, our number one priority.
As with all safeguarding concerns, please contact Dan Spencer, Club Safeguarding Officer, should you have any further questions.
